FED:Search continues for bodies lost at sea

Authorities believe there's no chance any more survivors of the Christmas Island boat
disaster will be found alive.

An asylum seeker boat smashed onto the island earlier this week .. killing 30 people.

The shift from rescue to recovery mode comes as the federal government defended its
plan to set up a multi-party group to examine the tragedy .. something labelled a "talkfest"

with the opposition and independent MPs refusing to participate.

Immigration Minister Chris Bowen says there's little hope of finding anyone else alive.

It's been revealed that one asylum seeker already detained on Christmas Island lost
seven family members in the disaster.

Authorities say 42 people survived.
